nfs-common software package provides NFS support files common to client and server, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nfs-common
nfs-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the nfs-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep nfs-common *
You will get with nfs-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
